MIRANDA Kerr has been rated the most desirable Australian girl on the planet by readers of a men’s lifestyle website.
The Sydney-raised model was voted number five in AskMen.com’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women, which was topped by Gossip Girl star Blake Lively. Actresses Mila Kunis and Sofia Vergara and model Selita Ebanks made up the remaining top five places in the annual poll. Other Australian honorees included Abbie Cornish (33), Rose Byrne (51), Rachael Taylor (65) and Natalie Imbruglia (87).
But models Megan Gale, Emily Scott, Jennifer Hawkins and singer Sophie Monk failed to make the cut after featuring in last year’s poll.
Other beauties also missing this year are Jessica Simpson and Heidi Klum.
More than five million votes were cast after readers were asked to rank the women who best represent their ideal girlfriend or wife.
Kerr jumped five places from number ten since the last annual survey, during a year in which she has been mostly pregnant.
The top ten are:
1. Blake Lively
2. Mila Kunis
3. Sofia Vergara
4. Selita Ebanks
5. Miranda Kerr
6. Cheryl Cole
7. Scarlett Johansson
8. Katy Perry
9. Anne Hathaway
10. Jessica Pare
The cream of Sydney’s social, fashion and media set flocked to the Hordern Pavilion this morning for the first “must-attend” event of the year, the David Jones Autumn/Winter Collections reveal.
26-year-old Miranda Kerr once again flew the couture flag for the retailer giant as David Jones fashion ambassador. With her hair pulled back tight in a slick bun, she opened the show in a Bianca Spender tencel halter jumpsuit – raising a few eyebrows and setting the bar for a range of collections that challenged the conventions of winter dressing.
Amid rain, smoke and lightning (courtesy of some strategically placed spotlights), the show was all about high drama and striking looks.
David Jones fashion family members including Alex Perry, Akira, Trelise Cooper and Lisa Ho were all hot on the runway but it was an all-animal-print collection with splashes of hot pink by Simona and a questionable organza ruffle dress by Collette Dinnigan that looked more South Beach Miami than wintry Martin Place that really got the attention of the the front row.
Sass & Bide were given the coveted spot of closing the show – and they did so in their trademark edgy signature – all about harnesses, armour and metallic embellishments.
One glam guest quipped, “big shoulders still in but we are all going to freeze to death in minis this winter. Joy!” We couldn’t agree more.

Thursday. He explained, “I don’t think Orlando’s with her. He’s working on a movie overseas so she’s flying solo, that’s the whole point. I was just going to run down to Coles and see what was on special, but now I might go all out and hit Zone Fresh.”
And if she says no? “I know where she lives, I’m going over anyway.”
VICTORIA’S Secret model Miranda Kerr said she is relieved that the Macquarie Bank broker caught on TV ogling naked pictures of her on his computer screen has not lost his job.
Kerr, 26, arrived in Sydney on Wednesday to news that David Kiely was caught opening emailed pictures of her as his bank colleague, Martin Lakos, did a live television cross behind him to the Seven Network.
“I’m actually very relieved he hasn’t lost his job – I would have felt terrible, otherwise,” Kerr said.
“I hope he can relax this weekend after what I’m sure has been a crazy week for him.
The story was picked up internationally – including by the New York Post and the BBC – as the video footage was viewed by several hundred thousand people after being uploaded to YouTube.
“I am always in my underwear for Victoria’s Secret and that was a shoot for GQ,” she said.
“It was innocent. In my opinion, the photographs are elegant and classic and, for many years, women have done shoots similar to that.”
